Collecting soda can labels and recycling them into something practical is a fan. I’ve shared this idea with the DIY Pretty Soda Pull Tab Belt (video). This pop ceiling light shade is a really cool piece of art that you can create and complete in a relatively short amount of time, as long as you have enough pop ceiling lights on hand. The photo above has a nice iridescent shade but the top is unpainted. This is a natural color from a factory anodized color can. It would be great if you could find and collect these colorful pop tops. You can directly use regular or draw it yourself to achieve similar results. If you don’t think you’ll be able to collect enough soda labels this way, but you still want to do this project, you can actually buy pull tabs from Amazon Here. When you’ve collected enough labels, you can now start bending each label about 120 degrees. Install the first layer of the chain on the top ring. You may need to bend the tab more to get it to attach securely to the hoop. Do this until you’re all done and go back to the first tab. Cut off the top of the label so you can do “chain mail”. Pass the top loop (with the clipped part) through the bottom loop of the 2 adjacent tabs on top. Continue connecting the tabs together until you reach the bottom of the loop. Just like you did on the top ring, you’ll need to install the bottom ring clip. Make necessary adjustments if necessary.
