DIY Girls Dresses from Old Cargo Free Sewing Patterns
Turn Dad’s old cargo pants/shorts into this pullover dress for your little angel. Jeans have been a popular fashion for both men and women for decades, far more functional than their original but a chic addition to today’s women. An old pair of jeans is either worn to perfection and fits like a glove, or it’s just news from last season. We can transform your jeans into new fashion pieces from our previous collection, or turn those old jeans or jeans into stylish new summer outfits. Putting pockets on clothing can be a hassle for someone with basic sewing skills, but it’s easy to simply glue on pockets that are already there. By using the pockets of your dad’s overalls and some fabric, you can make your girl this fun recycled skirt that even dads will approve of. The original tutorial was from BluDor Magazine, but it’s gone, hopefully it’ll come back. I am here to share a simple tutorial based on my personal understanding, you can choose to sew stripes or camisole, it is easy and flexible.

Supplies you need:
- old cargo pants/jeans, preferably with large pockets on them
- some new contrasting fabrics
- Basic Sewing Tools
- Helpers are optional
Tutorial:
Cut the cargo section (mid-length shorts will also work) in half from the front zipper to the back
Patch the corners with fabric so the edges are straight. Cut out the top part of the front and back of the dress, then cut into strips.
Sew along the edge
add frills at the bottom
Gather stitches along the top of the skirt until they are the same width as the bodice. Slide the pleated edge into the bodice and pin so that the open side skirt seam matches the open side edge of the bodice. sew.
