Five dream jobs from overseas destinations

While the pandemic has brought many negative changes, I think we can all agree that one of the positive changes it has brought is that it has completely changed the work culture. Working from home, cafes, co-working spaces or even abroad is no longer strange or difficult!

Which countries should you look out for if you’re considering working abroad? Here we list five dream pieces from abroad that you absolutely love.

Here are a few things to consider when deciding on a country:

  1. how easy it is to get a work visa;
  2. Cost of living;
  3. job opportunities in that country.

Without further ado, we’ve put together a list of countries you might want to consider:

1. Korea

South Korea is a beautiful country with a rich cultural heritage and many wondrous landscapes. It is also one of the best countries for you to work as an English teacher.

Most job offers also provide accommodation and obtaining a work visa is relatively easy. And you don’t even have to start looking for a job before coming to Korea! They apparently offer a job-seeking visa (D-10-1) “for foreigners who plan to attend training or look for work”.

If you’re not looking for something long-term, you can also try to apply for a working holiday visa so you can stay and work in the country for a year. This is perfect for the modern digital nomad!

2. Indonesia

Another country you should consider is Indonesia for one simple reason: the number of amazing destinations you can visit. We’ve all heard of Bali, but Indonesia has more to offer.

The low cost of living is an important factor that makes Indonesia worth considering. According to statistics, the average cost of living in Indonesia is 55.63% lower than that of the United States, and the average rent in Indonesia is 82.57% lower than that of the United States.

In addition, the Indonesian government announced plans to launch the Indonesian Digital Nomad Visa, aimed at attracting more foreign freelancers and remote workers to the country and its many attractive islands.

3. Portugal

If you are looking for a place to work remotely in Europe, why not consider Portugal? Portugal has a pleasant climate, there are many local English speakers, and it is considered safe. It also offers digital nomad visas for remote workers.

It’s a great place to stay because of the low rental costs and the sheer amount of food you can explore. Most importantly, Portugal has a good internet connection.

4. Mexico

Mexico has always been a popular travel destination, and we can all see why. It has a bustling nightlife, delicious food and a low cost of living. However, if you are interested in staying and working in Mexico temporarily, you will also like the fact that it has relaxed visa regulations and modern facilities.

This is a vast and diverse country with many destinations you can explore. It has plenty of co-working spaces with stable, good internet connections.

5. Estonia

Last but not least, we have Estonia. You may not see it coming when talking about remote work, but Estonia is one of the most popular countries for remote work. This European country has fast and reliable internet connections, low cost of living and digital nomad visas.

So here you go! These five countries are the ones you should definitely consider if you want to try working abroad.

But aside from deciding where to go, you should always make sure to have and check your remote work tech essentials checklist before actually taking the plunge. For example, you might want an external hard drive, a 3-pin to 2-pin socket adapter, or have a headset, webcam, and microphone ready. These are sure to make moving easier and make your stay more enjoyable!
