How To DIY Tissue Paper Ballerina

Whether you dreamed of being a ballerina as a kid, the mom of a girl who loves ballet, or just love delicate handmade decorations, you’ll love this cute paper ballerina project. This is a great idea for mom and daughter to make a lovely decoration for a girl’s bedroom. This lovely idea came from Stariy Chemodan’s blog, but since the original post was in Russian, we decided to show our step descriptions throughout the tutorial.
Supplies you need:
- Wire (flexible, holds shape well)
- multi-layer napkins;
- Starch paste (dilutable PVA glue);
- Wire;
- transparent fishing line;
- clamp;
- A pair of scissors;
- A thin needle.
Tutorial:
1. Bend the wire to form the “skeleton” of the figurine.
2. Divide the napkin into layers. If the napkin has a pattern, use only the plain layer. Remember to save some single layer napkins for later.
3. Tear the remaining napkin into 1.5″ wide strips (do not use scissors). Now, take your wire outline and wrap it in strips of paper, then cover it with diluted starch or glue.You can also immerse it in the solution
2. Divide the napkin into layers. If the napkin has a pattern, use only the plain layer. Remember to save some single layer napkins for later.
4. Fold the napkin as if you were going to cut out a snowflake.
5. Take the whole napkin. Choose the right skirt length for your ballerina and cut a napkin. The hem should be rounded.
6. Curl the “dress” in both directions for the best fold.
7. Prepare at least two layers of gowns for a ballerina.
8. Cut a small hole in the top of the skirt and place it on the figurine.
9. Take a thread and wrap it around the ballerina’s waist.
