Draw your doll on the cardboard, this will be the actual size of the doll you want. Next, you choose a soft piece of yarn and wrap it lengthwise around the cardboard. To secure it, tie a knot at the top. Continue to wrap the yarn around the board. Remember, the more you wrap, the thicker your doll will be. For a good doll, you need at least 100 loops. Once you get to your last loop, to protect it, tie it to the previous loop. Slide a string between the loop and the cardboard. Gather all the rope in the center of the board, then slide it to the top and tie the knot. Now just tie a string around where you want the doll’s neck to be. Divide the body of the doll into three distinct sections; the outer two should be smaller than the middle one, and they should be roughly equal to each other in thickness. These will be the arms of the doll. Tie a rope tightly around the middle of the rope where you want her waist to be. Tie the arm at the “wrist” and trim the ends of the yarn into the loop. To give your doll the final look, simply cut the end loops from your doll, which will become your doll’s skirt. If you want, you can split the middle from the waist down and tie it like an arm instead of a skirt. Voila, your woolen doll is ready.
