How can I decorate my wine cork tree?
I used a beautiful ribbon on the outside of the tree and added matching pink and white beads to the front of the tree. You can choose to decorate your tree similarly, or you can change it. The following ideas can make your tree unique.
- Use different color schemes and more traditional holiday colors such as green, red, gold, silver, and blue.
- Match the color or ribbon to the rest of the Christmas tree or the holiday theme of the home decoration.
- Use pompoms, sequins or rhinestones instead of beads to create different looks.
- Replace the beads with miniature ornaments to get a more tree-like appearance.
- Spray the cork tree green before adding decorations to make it look more real.
- Add a small string of battery-powered mini lights to your tree so that it shines on the top of the tree that is already glowing.
- Before attaching the beads, apply the cork with glue and glitter.
How to decorate this cork tree is endless. Just use your imagination to make it look unique, but still keep it within your budget and match your other decorations.
Can I hang it on the Christmas tree?
Although this wine cork Christmas tree decoration was not originally made as an ornament, it is easy to turn it into an ornament. You can simply add something to hang it, and then put it on the tree.
Use a traditional metal hook or screw the hook into the top of the cork to hang it on the tree. Another option is to tie an extra ribbon on it. You can also add some rope, yarn, or ribbon to the cork when you glue it together to make it safer to hang on the tree.
Should I paint the wine cork too?
When drawing corks for this wine cork Christmas tree decoration, it all depends on what you want to do. You can paint the tree in any color you like, or you can paint the tree green more traditionally. If you choose to make the wine cork natural, this will also look beautiful.
There is no right or wrong answer to painting this ornament. If you choose to paint this tree decoration, you will need to use acrylic craft paint. This is the best coating to cover wine cork, because it is not water-based. It is cheap and easy to use. Even children can use acrylic, but be sure to cover your area and clothes. Although it is easy to wash your hands, it will not fall off your clothes.
Can I make these trees with children?
Yes. The only thing you need to pay attention to when making with children is cutting and gluing. Although you may want to cut the wine bottle stopper in half before assembling, you can easily replace the glue with something that is child-safe. There are many non-toxic glues to choose from. Although childrenβs school glue will work, I prefer to use non-toxic viscous craft glue to maintain strength.
Supplies needed
How to make wine cork Christmas decorations
Cut 7 wine corks in half.
Glue the corks together starting from three in a row.
Then add four on top of those at an angle to make them off-center.
On the third layer, add three corks, then add a set of two, and finally add a cork to make a tree shape.
If necessary, use glue to tie a ribbon on the outside of the tree and add a beautiful bow to it.
Next, glue the two pieces side by side, and then connect them to the roots under the ribbon.
Finally, glue beads between each cork as a mini decoration until you are satisfied with the appearance.
You can use glitter to accomplish this, or add another piece of ribbon or a hook to hang on your tree.
