When you are looking for a way to add color and charm to your home, this DIY candle holder is your best choice! It’s fast and simple, and the results are absolutely stunning. This is also a good way to reuse old fabric waste into beautiful and useful things. You can also take it as a gift! What an interesting holiday upgrade idea!
Fabric flower candle holder
This anthurium is a good item for beginners. It’s easy and fun, and you can do it in just a few hours! You need some cloth, scissors and LED candles. You are using recycled substrates and rags, so this project has the lowest cost.
The perfect gift for your loved one or yourself! With this beautiful candle holder, you will be able to create a wonderful atmosphere in any room. Display it on your mantle, coffee table, or use it as part of the centerpiece. It will even look great on a shelf or next to plants on a plant stand. If you like something more natural, take a look at this rustic candle holder, which is also an interesting holiday decoration. For something less holiday-themed, you might like this wine cup tea candle lantern.
What is the use of the candlestick in the middle?
You want to use something round, a bit as deep as a jar. I used a sturdy empty container that was already golden, but you can use whatever you have on hand. Here are some other feasible ideas.
- Baby food cans or other small recycled food cans.
- Mason jar lid or any deep metal or plastic small lid.
- For smaller flower options, the yogurt cup or k cup is empty.
- Empty tuna or cat food cans that have been cleaned and removed.
Do I have to know how to sew to do this?
You didn’t do much sewing for this candle holder. You will use needlework, but no real sewing skills are required. This is a basic or beginner level manual sewing level.
Can I stick fabric instead of sewing it?
If you don’t have basic sewing skills or don’t want to sew fabrics, you can use other things to fix the fabrics together. You can use hot glue or fabric glue. There is also stitching witchcraft. These things will stick together, but will not last as long as you sew.
Can I use felt instead of fabric?
The great thing about this craft is that you can use any fabric you like or have on hand. You can use anything from cotton to silk. If you want something that requires less sewing, or because you don’t have fabric on hand, you can use felt instead. You can use various fabric pieces to make this beautiful flower candle holder.
What other ways can I decorate it?
There are no restrictions on how to decorate this candlestick. You can add glitter, which is always your favorite. Add colorful fabric pieces or add lace or tulle. You can also add things such as beads, sequins, and trinkets to the stand.
Another idea is to draw the actual holder. No matter what you use as the base of the candlestick, you can draw the inner and outer display parts. I like to make it golden, but if you want, you can definitely paint it in any color, including green, red, blue, silver, and even purple! Like all our craft ideas, this is just a basic idea of how to do it, a guide to your imagination that you can learn.
Supplies needed
How to make a fabric flower candle holder
On the green fabric, measure a 3 inch-4 inch wide circle.
Cut out this circle and use it as a template, cut out a total of 10-12 circles, and put them aside.
On the red fabric, measure a 7″-8″ wide circle.
Cut out this circle and use it as a template to cut out a total of 6-8 circles, and then set them aside.
Prepare the needle and thread to be sewn with a long thread loop.
Fold the red fabric circle in half, and then fold it in half. This creates a “triangular” shape, with the open end being the larger flat side.
Pass the needle and thread through the open end and move back and forth loosely along the bottom. After sewing along the edges of the longer sides of the fabric triangle, pull them together to form petals. Then sew into that shape, knot and then knot.
Repeat this process of folding and stitching all the red and green circles until each color has multiple “petals”, and green is smaller than red.
Now, using a new long thread on the needle, start to sew the petals together. Pass the needle and thread through the bottom of each red petal and arrange them in a circle on the thread next to each other.
Once all the red petals are strung together, place the golden bowl in the middle so that the petals surround it. Spread the petals to form a circle, then sew into this shape, leaving the correct space in the middle for the bowl.
Repeat this process with green petals.
Glue the golden bowl in the middle of the red petals.
Then put the green petals on top and the red petals. Glue them to the bowl as well.
Add a lace to the edge of the bowl, fold and curl over the green petals to create a ruffled look.
If needed or desired, then add beaded ribbon to the upper edge of the bowl.
Add a small candle in the center and show it!
