Can the style of earrings enhance your facial features? Which style of earrings suits you best? Where do you start the design process? These are questions jewelry designers often ask themselves. The best place to start is to determine your face shape. Is yours round, square, oval or heart? Once you’ve determined your face shape, explore the style that works best for you.
The designer used three basic earring styles – linear, chandelier and hoop. Each of the three earring styles accentuates and enhances your features, as well as balances out areas you wish to tone down. For example, as with clothing, vertical lines in earring styles draw the eye upward and visually elongate the feature. Horizontal lines draw the eye from side to side and accentuate the width of your face.
Round Faces: The vertical lines of elongated, linear, drop and narrow chandelier earrings will add height and provide an overall slimming effect to your face, emphasizing vertical lines.
Square Face: Rings with a round silhouette, long teardrops and long, narrow chandelier earrings will visually soften the edges of a square face while adding visual height.
Oval Face: The oval face is enhanced by round, triangular and oval hoops as well as teardrops and chandeliers.
Heart-shaped faces: Horizontal wire hoops, teardrop linear shapes, and chandeliers with a wider bottom than the top will add width to the face and soften the effect of a pointed chin.
