Leaf Shaped DIY Sand Cast Water Basin
Looking for a simple project with great potential? Try this sand cast water basin. It’s easy to make, works with any large leaf, and can be done in a number of ways. For a large water pot, like the one in the photo to the right, plants like rhubarb, ganara, or ‘Sum and Substance’ hosta work best. This is rhubarb. You are not limited to large leaves. This process works for almost any type. Much more than a bird bath, I love using it as a garden decoration, whether it’s on the ground, around a pond, or on a garden wall.

- big leaf
- 1 bag of sand
- 2 bags of concrete
- water
- plastic wrap
- Tubular Concrete Formwork
- paint or concrete dye (optional)
- concrete sealer
tool
- Concrete bucket or mixing pan
- mixed hoe
- small brush
- brush
- foam brush
- 2 paint and sealant containers
