I still remember when I was a child, I hung those dream catchers as gifts in my bedroom. It was made by my grandma. It was very warm. I made a lot of dream catchers by myself with metal rings and wire. Over generations, dream catchers have been woven into Native American culture. According to the Dream Catcher Organization, the Dream Catcher has always been one of the elements of the Native American Dream Catcher, associated with basketball traditions. Some Native Americans in North America hold hoops in high esteem as a symbol of strength and unity. Many symbols start around the hoop, one of which is the dream catcher.

Native Americans believed that the night air was filled with good and bad dreams. When hung over or near the bed, the dream catcher swings freely in the air, capturing dreams as they flow by. Good dreams know how to slip through a dream catcher, emerge from the hole in the outside, and slide down soft feathers so softly that many times the sleeping person does not know that he is dreaming. The nightmare of nowhere is entangled in the dream catcher, dying in the first light of a new day.

So when I saw this tree-shaped dreamcatcher made by sonya that could be twisted with beads and wire to give me the power of life, I fell in love and wanted to try it out. In this project we are moving from traditional feather, mesh materials to wire and beads.

materials needed:

• copper wire
• Assorted beads
• metal ring
• wire cutters

how:

As with a traditional dream catcher, cut the wire to the same length, fold it in half, thread it through the copper ring and wrap the webbing around it.

Weave three strands of copper wire into roots and twist them together to make aces.

Here comes the funnest and most creative part, separating the wires to make the branches.

Add beads to the ends of the wire and wrap around the frame.

Sprinkle the beads evenly to make the frame look full. Do you like it like me? They’re just great crafts that anyone would love to try.
