How to Grow an Avocado Tree from Seed

πŸ“±

A famous California fruit, avocados provide nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, vitamin E, B vitamins, and folic acid. It is one of the delicious fruits of summer, full of nutrition and delicious taste. Growing your own avocado tree from a tree is fun and easy, especially when it’s in its early stages, and you can place them indoors to add greenery to your home decor.

what do you need:

  • one ripe avocado
  • 4 toothpicks
  • Fertile soil
  • glass pot

route:

  1. Take the avocado and cut it in half. Scoop out the fruit and enjoy as usual, remove the seeds in the center and rinse with water to make sure there is no fruit on top. Dry the seeds completely, as wet seeds can become slippery and difficult to work with.
  2. Push toothpicks into the center from all four sides of the seed. After pricking a toothpick into the seed, place it in a glass full of water with the tip of the seed facing up and the round part submerged an inch in the water.
  3. Keep the glass in a warm place out of direct sunlight. Leave for 4-6 weeks, monitoring regularly for watering needs. The seeds will develop stems and roots. Once the stems are 6 inches long, cut them into 3-inch pieces. The stems will begin to grow again and produce leaves.
  4. Transfer the seeds in the glass to a large pot 3 feet wide by 3 feet deep. Add fertile soil to the pot and plant the seeds. The roots of the seeds should be pushed into the soil about 1-3 inches. The top half of the seeds should stay out of the pot.
  5. Place the pot in a location with plenty of sun, air, and water. The soil should be kept moist but not saturated. Use well-drained pots. It’s a great idea to place pots in the garden. Every time the stem grows 6 inches, pinch the top leaves of the plant. Doing so will promote the growth of the pants.
  6. Sowing begins in spring. If you don’t have a garden, take your plants outside every day to enjoy the sun and fresh air. Now is the time to be patient. Avocado trees typically take 7-15 years to produce fruit.
