These DIY bath salts are a quick and frugal treat!
Bath salts are an excellent way to relieve sore muscles, relieve joint pain, improve circulation, relieve headaches and reduce stress. You can buy bath salts from many retailers, but making your own can save you money while customizing your scent. DIY Bath Salts Also makes great handmade gifts for your friends and family.

Supplies
- 1 cup Epsom salt
- ¾ cup coarse sea salt or kosher salt
- ¼ cup baking soda
- 25 drops of essential oil
- 2 or 3 drops food coloring
- Empty glass jar with lid

Mix together Epsom salt, coarse sea salt or kosher salt and baking soda.

Add your essential oils. You can use all one oil or a combination of essential oils, depending on your personal preference. Try 20 drops of lavender oil and 5 drops of peppermint oil for a soothing night soak. Another great relaxation blend is 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil, 10 drops of lavender essential oil, and 5 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil. If you have a cold, a bath salt made with 15 drops of eucalyptus oil and 10 drops of peppermint oil will help clear out your sinuses.

Add two to three drops of food coloring to color your bath salts. To avoid accidentally soiling surfaces in your home, you want to use bath salts that are soft, pastel colors. Try choosing colors that relate to your fragrance choices, such as a yuzu-scented bath salt for a soft pink or a mint-scented bath salt for a pale blue.

Mix well and pour into a container. A 16 oz mason jar is perfect for this recipe. If you don’t have a spare mason jar handy, any glass container with a lid will work. This includes empty spaghetti sauce jars or empty jam and jelly containers.

If you’re giving bath salts as a gift, add a piece of ribbon or twine around the jar and label the label to describe the smell.
