If you have an old pair of flats in your closet, why not freshen them up?
Learn how to turn a basic pair of flats into an adorable pair with our easy DIY tutorial.
what do you need:
– Flat shoes
-1 yard of 2″ ribbon
-2 rhinestone buckles
– shoe glue
-Hot glue
– Needle and thread
-Scissors
direction:
1. Cut 2 ribbons to the length you measure on the shoe (placement).
2. Measure where you will place the buckle and make a hole in the ribbon with scissors.
3. Thread the ribbon through the buckle.
4. Glue the buckle to the shoe and let it dry. If you are using hot glue, apply the hot glue directly to the top of the shoe where you will place the buckle and press the buckle into it. Hold it until it dries/cools.
5. Gently but firmly pull the ribbon towards the sole. Draw a line on the laces along the edge where the upper meets the sole. Cut your ribbon along the line where you marked it.
6. Using hot glue, mark a glue line on the edge of the shoe to attach the ribbon to the shoe.
7. Cut the remaining ribbon in half. Take a piece of ribbon and needle thread, fold the edge about 1/4 inch, and sew along the edge. Then continue making small pleats until you feel your ruffles are wide enough for the shoe. When you get to the end, trim the ribbon and fold it over like you did at the beginning, about 1/4 inch, and sew.
8. Use hot glue to secure the ruffles inside the shoe, but be careful not to put too much hot glue as it will squeeze out and add bulk you really don’t want.View in gallery
