Wonderful DIY Twisted Double Rope Bun Hairstyle

The double rope braided bun is easy to do and super sturdy. It creates so much volume and adds a fun look to a regular bun! This is a chic way to style your hair for a dance, party or any occasion.

route:

1. Using a thin ponytail instead of a thick ponytail, tie your hair into two ponytails. Thin ones will be easier to hide. Make sure they are as close to your hair color as possible.
2. Braid the two ponytails into a rope braid. (For those who don’t know, a rope braid is just two strands of hair intertwined.) Tie them together with small clear elastic.
3. Use your fingers to loosen the rope braid. This will “fat” the braid and give the bun more volume. If you notice small pieces starting to come off, just twist them back and spray with your favorite strong styling hairspray.
4. Take the rope braid from your right back (as shown in the photo) and place it “up and down” counterclockwise, securing it with a strong bobby pin as you go.
5. Tuck the tail of the rope braid into the bottom of the next braid (as shown). This should completely hide the tail of the first braid.
6. Now pull the tail of the next braid counterclockwise to the center, coiling it to the center. You are actually making a “snail shape”. Be sure to pin while you go.
7. Finally, grab a hand mirror. Check the back to see if you need to loosen any parts to make it fuller – or you may need to add bobby pins and tighten some parts. Add a full veil of hairspray to ensure flight.
