DIY Turtle Lamp Tutorial Using Balloons

Remember the DIY Mason Jar Fairy Lantern tutorial (video)? It’s a pleasure to turn trash into treasure, and this turtle lamp that I share below would be another great lighting addition to a children’s room or fairy garden. Diana, the creator behind Creative Mom (she’s a Creative Mom, agree?), has created fairy houses, mushroom houses, miniature charms, sculpting and painting, some amazing stuff out of very cheap materials. She made this turtle again out of recycled paper. It is very easy and cheap to make as there are only two components: cardboard and PVA glue for the turtle light, using balloons for the base, some cardboard for paper clay and acrylic colours. It’s a creative way to teach kids about recycling and to spark their imaginations too. Great piece with such attention to every detail.

I also shared the cardboard clay and PVA lanterns, if you try it yourself, it is easy to imitate this, tear the cardboard into pieces and put them in a blender, heat the water over the cardboard pieces and stir to a uniform mixture, pass through a sieve Water is squeezed out, then glue is added to make paper clay! The rest is simple, shape the back and head of the turtle, use rolls of paper for the 4 legs, and use large cardboard for the base. Paint the turtle any color you like, then poke holes in the turtle’s back to extinguish the light.
