How to make the most of natural light in your home

In terms of design, light is one of the most important elements that will affect the final look of the house, it will provide a variety of sensations in different rooms. That’s why it’s so important to take the time to create more natural light or acclimate the environment to natural light. Here are some of the best ways to make the most of natural light indoors.

1. Add more windows and glass doors

Obvious, right? It may not be the most “left field” idea, but if you use glass windows and door walls as much as possible, then yes, you are using a very innovative idea. By using the Aluprof window and door system, you can completely open up the room to the outside world, thereby changing the look and feel of the room.

Sliding doors can be installed in place of entire walls. It can then be opened on good days to let in fresh air and all the natural light in the room. If your goal is to open up your house to the outside world, it’s time to tear down some walls and replace them with window panes.

2. Go a step further and make structural changes

Not only sunlight can enter the house. Moonlight can also add a unique touch to a night or even an entire night. Yes, the white light of Earth’s satellites is noticeable…that is, when you install a sunroof. In fact, it’s sometimes the only solution to turning a dark room into a solar (or moonlight) paradise.

Depending on the location of the house, there will always be rooms that are more difficult to illuminate with natural light. But that’s something a skylight can handle, no matter where it’s located within the house.

3. Choose light colors for your walls

Aside from doors and windows, the most important element when it comes to natural light is the color you choose for the walls of each room. No matter how many windows you have, no matter how they are positioned relative to the sun, if the walls of the room are painted dark, natural light will never be able to bring them joy. They will always remain indifferent and obscure.

Conversely, a room with white or light-colored walls always looks well-lit, even if only dim natural light comes in.

4. Reflect the sun’s rays through mirrors

For added light, mirrors are unbeatable. Letting the sun in, is one thing. But once it’s done, the way to increase its diffusion is through its reflections on mirrors throughout the house. Without them, walls end up absorbing all natural light.

The most useful location for a mirror is in front of a window. Light bounces off it and travels through the room. Depending on where the sun is, it can sometimes even reach other parts of the house because it reflects in different ways on the glass.
