This camper van may look weird, but once you see the inside, you’ll want one

When I saw this, I’d prefer to call it a convertible mobile home rather than a camper or camper trailer, and was in total amazement and awe! My family only goes camping once or twice a year, but we do travel a lot around the neighborhood, and if we had a “house” like this, we wouldn’t have the headache of finding a hotel during high season.

The Markies camper van is truly a game changer and the perfect home away from home! How amazing! Modern camping trailers creatively employ two folding principles in order to triple the initial 2.00mx 4.50m interior space when parked in the desired location. Rigid side walls open on both sides to form the floor, while two accordion-shaped awnings (one transparent and one opaque) unfold from the main part of the trailer to cover the newly formed living and sleeping areas respectively. The trailer is equipped with the essential home infrastructure including a stove, fridge, shower/toilet, storage space and four beds. Additionally, furniture pieces such as chairs and tables fold down from the main compartments of the two emerging rooms.

What a luxurious camping experience! No wonder the project won the prestigious Rotterdam Design Award Public Prize in 1996. Need help camping? Here are some suggestions from Trail Sherpa to make your experience even better.
