If you’ve never tried lace crafting, you’re long overdue for a treat. This simple but surprisingly effective technique has been used to create everything from Art Deco to luxury furniture and more. In this case, the same simple lace technique is used to weave a hammock that is so elegant and so comfortable, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it.
Simple consumables, great results
Instead of spending a fortune on a store-bought hammock, set aside a few hours this weekend to create something unique and wonderful. In terms of supplies, you just need some basic necessities and various tools you probably already have at home.
you need to:
- 30″ long hardwood dowel, 1.25″ diameter X3
- 36″ long hardwood dowel, 5/8″ diameter X2
- Lace cords or cords of any colour, 200 yards
- 5″ rope, 8 yards
- Screw Bag – 1 inch
- Scissors
- measuring tap
- drill
There’s no denying how great this blue example looks in pictures, but it’s totally free to mix things up. You can of course also paint the dowels if you want to make your DIY hammock even more unique to you.
