For this project, you’ll need origami, scrapbooking paper, or squares cut from magazines, brochures, or old book pages. The size of the square doesn’t matter, but if you have the least origami experience, a square of at least four inches is the easiest to work with.
1. Make a water bomb base
This easy origami flower starts with a water bomb base. Also known as a balloon base, this is a common form of origami used in a variety of models.
To make the water bomb base, start with the paper you want to use for the petals facing up. Fold the paper in half horizontally. Expand. Fold the paper in half vertically. Expand. You now have a criss-cross pattern.
Flip the paper over so the petals are facing down. Fold the paper in half diagonally so you have a large triangle of paper. Expand. Fold the paper in half diagonally from the other direction.

Unfold the paper completely. Using the middle vertical fold, fold the paper into layered triangles. This is your water bomb base.
2. Start your petals
Rotate your paper so the point of your water bomb base is facing you. Fold the water bomb base in half along the middle vertical crease. Take the first of the four layers and fold it to the left side of the workspace as shown in the image below.

3. Complete the production of petals
Flip the model over. Fold the top layer to the right using the same technique as the folding in the previous step of the project. Flip the model over. Fold the top layer to the left. Flip the model one last time and fold the last layer to the right.

4. Open the first petal
Hold the tip of the paper, the tip will become the stem of the finished flower. Open one of the four flaps you created. Push the bottom of the flap slightly inward and run your thumb along the crease. This will pop the flaps into petal shapes.

5. Complete the simple origami flower shape
