How to make lanterns out of empty egg cartons? This project is very simple. We love how the light bounces off the egg carton, making the flowers appear multi-colored. You can paint the egg carton any color to match your other decor. Or try a multi-colored flower for extra pop.
what do you need:
Egg carton (cardboard or Styrofoam)
Acrylic craft paint
sharp utility knife
Foam Brush
hot glue gun
light post
cutting mat
instruct:
1. Cut your carton. Save your carton or ask your friends and family to donate theirs to your project. Use a utility knife to cut the egg carton along the lines you drew.
2. Shape your flowers.
3. Draw your flower.
It’s time to paint your flowers! Sponge paint brushes are best for covering irregular surfaces and spreading the paint nicely in small creases and dimples, we recommend painting the inside of all flowers first. When you have finished painting the last flower, the first flower should be dry and then you can start painting the outside.
4. Assemble the lamp
Once all the paint is completely dry, use a utility knife to make a small X-shaped cut at the bottom of the flower. This slit is where you insert the light bulb.
Insert one of the bulbs so far into one of the flowers that you can remove the bulb and replace it if it burns out.
On the back of the flower, hot glue the flower in place. It helps hold the flower in place until the glue sets. Repeat this step for each flower, making sure the glue is cool before moving to the next light.
