Some of our favorite crafting projects to make are those that upcycle everyday household items. You might not think of making these items into works of art, but once you see the inspirational pictures, you’ll be hooked on the idea! 1. Mini Keychain Charm Bracelet

Have you accidentally hidden those little keys that come with padlocks, suitcase locks, and the little locks on your vanity case? These keys are not used very often, but they are visually pleasing because they come in all shapes and sizes. Try using closed jewelry chains, chains and clasps to turn them into bracelet charms.

Simple rope, twine, or fishing line will help you hang keys of different sizes on metal rings to create a rustic set of wind chimes! Hang the keys at different heights, making sure they still overlap so they collide when the wind blows.

If you have the tools to handle the leather, like a clip to pierce the leather to put in the studs, all you need is some metal domes and you can make this rustic chic keychain. We like the alternating orientation of the keys.

If you have a set of old keys that really mean something to you, like your parents’ keys when they first came home, show them off proudly! Try putting them in a vintage (or at least retro-looking) frame with a colorful backing.

These “key chains” are a little different than your normal key chains! It is easy to make necklaces with keys. Find a jewelry chain, measure it to where you want your keys to hang, and fasten a clasp!

Create flat rectangles and press keys of different styles and shapes into the clay to leave decorative imprints. Bake the clay (or use self-drying clay) and glaze it to give it a shiny beaded finish. Then you can reuse the key for other crafts!

If you have some fun-shaped vintage keys to choose from, but you don’t have enough of them to make something, use them to stamp! Lightly cover one side of the key with paint and stamp its shape onto the burlap. Once it dries, place it in a frame and hang it!
