DIY Terracotta Pot Tower

πŸ–₯️

For us, this is the clay pot tower or the folding flower tower week. As we all know, how much my son and I like DIY crafts. We like to keep ourselves busy making at home. This is a hobby we can never get rid of! In addition, it helps me to have a good time with my boy. We learn new things and add colorful home decorations to our house. Guess what I did this weekend? Yes! We made a clay pot tower. For those who do not know what Terra Cotta pots are, these pots are completely different from ordinary pots used for gardening purposes. These flowerpots can be used outdoors or indoors.

So after we planted the flowers in the front yard, we put some empty flower pots in the garage. This weekend, after brunch, I decided to throw away the extras in the garage. When I was making it, I saw these flower pots, which reminded me of the DIY crafts that my son and I can make together. I cleaned them up and brought them in to make the most of (not to mention the exciting) these flower pots.

Let’s collect some supplies!

For my Terra Cotta Pot tower, I used paints purchased from Plaid, which are easy to clean and very suitable for children.

  • 5 bottles of apple bucket paint
  • 1 bottle of Mod Podge Washout
  • 1 interesting template pack
  • 3 foam applicators

How lucky I am to find the product I need at home. Guess this is what happens when you are a DIY craft enthusiast, you can find almost everything you need at home. When you don’t do this, you always have different ideas!

The idea is to use these jars to make a tower and write a sentence on them with the help of a template to make it more interesting and cunning. But the terracotta warriors are not big enough to carry a complete offer. So I finally gave up the idea of adding references and decided to use simple paintings. As for my templates, they can wait for me to use them next time!

To make a clay pot tower or a stacked flower tower:

step 1:

First, I collected three terracotta pots of different sizes, basically large, medium and small. To match my clay pot, I added a large clay platter, you will learn how to use it at the end. The paints I use are Apple Barrel paint and Mod Podge. Finally, I got a foam applicator to make our work easier and more fun.

I also used a foam brush to paint. In order to put all the flower pots together to form a tower, I used washi tape as an adhesive.

Step 2:

Paint your terracotta pot in any way you like. I chose a bright yellow, and my son chose a green to match my medium-sized yellow clay pot.

We all painted our pots with our favorite colors, and they turned out to be very bright and decent. Of course, I later helped my boy even paint the strokes of his painted pot.

Step 3:

This step is optional, and it all depends on whether you want to paint the edge of the pot or leave it as it is. I decided to paint them white because the white edges enhance the overall color of the pot.

This white paint is Mod Podge Washout. It ensures that the washi tape sticks to the paint.

Step 4:

Mod podge application is quite a delicate step, but we used a foam applicator and did it very well. Then my son pressed the paper tape with his fingers. This is certainly an interesting experience for both of us. I really wanted to try it myself, so I asked my child to make a smaller pot, and then I tried the largest pot.

Thankfully, this mod podge is washable, making it a thin model suitable for children. I like it for this reason, because it is less confusing and more interesting.

Step 5:

Finally, I added a layer of Mod podge to the pots to protect them and give them their final appearance.

I know they look like this super fun!

But you know, I always want more DIY crafts. For me, more is (mostly) less! , So I decided to take the next step!

Step 6:

Yes! You got it right! Build a tower with these cute colorful flower pots! I believe it is a unique work that will take up less space.

Turn the clay pot upside down, place the smallest on the top of the tower and the largest on the bottom of the tower. Add the dishes we bought to our workbench. Keep them safe by using strong adhesives to connect them together for a longer period of time.

I put a small bowl in the kitchen cabinet to increase the weight of the basin so that they can stay together, and the adhesive takes time to dry.

Later, I added these beautiful petunias to the bowl to complete the look of my pot tower.

Look at my three flower pots-terracotta towers or DIY flower pots! Isn’t this beautiful! ?

The Apple Barrel paint we used dries quickly, and then we thought, this made it easy to complete this DIY project in less than an hour less drying time.

I like this New Mod podge. Usually, mod podge can cause confusion, but this new formula is my favorite because it is easily washed off. Before that, I used to worry about creating messy little guys during production. But with these Mod Podges, I can easily wash them off with simple water and soap. These bottles are even very easy to handle and will not cause confusion to the children. Keep their hands and clothes clean, which is a big deal!

After that, the craft night is now our tradition! If you like to make with kids, then you must try this. This is a quick DIY project, not so troublesome, with these paints, you don’t have to worry about getting dirty or your kids getting dirty. Try this at home, you will enjoy the good time with your children away from mobile phones and laptops, and your children will also love DIY handicrafts. It will open new doors of creativity for them. enjoy!
